Mission: Our media center provides the place, space, and tools to investigate, create, and celebrate the word and the world. Through our programs, services, and materials we promote critical literacy, a love of life long learning, the power of story, and informed & active citizenship. Students, teachers, and community members will have opportunities to demonstrate and refine their abilities to retrieve, question, synthesize, create and communicate ideas and information.
Collection: Our collection at Jackson includes almost 10,000 titles including graphic novels, magazines, high interest fiction, audio books, and “the classics”. We also have educational resources to support classroom curriculum and programs including a full print and non print reference section. Our collection includes access to on line journals and newspapers and databases through various links on our website. Students can also request materials from any other PPS library through the Jackson circulation desk.
Library Staff Introductions:

Sandra J. Childs, Library Media Specialist
I love jars of tea, people who make me laugh and share their music, good books, & pie. I graduated from Reed College (English), S.U.N.Y. Buffalo (Law), & Lewis & Clark (Education). I am endorsed in Education (Library) Media, Language Arts, & Social Studies. In 08-09 I was the librarian at Clark-Binnsmead K-8. For 20 years before that, I taught Global Studies, Women’s Literature, & Sophomore English at Franklin High. I have a 14 year old daughter who keeps me up-to-date about everything teen and tweenish. I served as Jackson’s writing coach in 2009-10, and am a teacher-consultant for the Oregon Writing Project & a writer for Rethinking Schools. What do I read? Check out![]()
